  • Humans will face extinction if we don't colonize another planet Stephen Hawking warns

Stephen Hawking: We have 100 years to colonize another planet
    http://www.nydailynews.com/news/worl...icle-1.3142345

Hawking, 75, attributes our planet's imperilment to a variety of forces, including climate change, overdue asteroid strikes, epidemics and population growth, the release said, calling Earth an increasingly precarious place to live.

Hawking previously estimated that humanity had around 1,000 years left before it would become extinct.

He said advances in science and technology will create new ways things can go wrong.

1000 years? Not my problem. I've got other things to worry about.

Runaway virus, super volcano eruption, meteor impact, it IS going to happen.

We're not going to get off this planet in an appreciable and sustainable way, before it does.

Not exactly one of his more mind-blowing predictions.

Yep. Not giving NASA a trillion dollars guarantees we're all goners. Just ask them.

"Colonize another planet". Yeah right, as if there's enough rocket fuel and Tang to move a billion people, let alone 10 billion.

Well, I don't know if we'll go extinct, but when the Yellowstone supervolcano finally blows again, the U.S. people who die almost immediately might be the lucky ones.

The rest of the human race might mostly starve instead.

Is it just me, or is hawking getting weirder and weirder. Trying to stay relevant. Who cares if humans go extinct? Also, brush you teeth, Steve.

Don't know why all these people build shelters to survive a cataclysmic event? Just enjoy the show and bust a cap when prudent.

Sometimes I wonder if we even have 3 years before somebody does something stupid.

It'll need to a blue planet with enhanced screening for immigrants from red states to keep out conservatives. That way they can stay here and continue to vote down birth control and abortion rights initiatives and, otherwise, deny climate change is happening.
