One story I read said Clapton and Harrison dropped in on Hendrix performing in England, and the comment from one or both was "that guy plays an instrument we're not familiar with."

They got some amazing actors to play the baddies on that show.

And don't forget all the women who played Catwoman too.

Who had the best wife that they lost via infidelity?

Only cuz I love my beautiful Sandy so. How could he have treated her so badly?

Who had the better acting career?
        Bill Murray
Bill has had the better career, but as good an actor as he can be (and I don't feel he's been trying much lately), Hackman is clearly the better actor. Bill basically plays Murray, Gene knows how to make a character and meld into it.

        Who was the better golfer?
        Arnold Palmer
Wonderful playing style, and for a golfer a great sportsman. A class act all around.

Who was the queen of the screen in their hay-day?
        Joan Collins
Sophia and Raquel are pretty and not bad actresses, but Joan is fabulous and a great actress.

Who was the better F1 driver?
        Personally couldn't give two shits.

Who played the public better for being famous for simply being famous?
        Paris Hilton
Clear winner on this one. And has shown herself to be a pretty good cocksucker, too.

There's another story that early on when Jimi first got to London, Clapton was going to do an appearance with him. Jimi went out and tore up his guitar, and Eric left the club mad saying something to the effect that "no one told me he was that fucking good".

Thing is, you can't call yourself even a just a decent enough playing rock guitarist these days unless you can jam Hendrix, Clapton, and Allman type riffs as a matter of regular playing. My wanna-be rock star co-worker can tear up an axe SRV style, and we were in Sam Ash a week ago only to see him get embarrassed by a kid half his age wrecking a poor guitar worse than Eddie VH ever could even on a seriously coked-up night. Kid starts playing at 14, and by 16 he's far out-Hendrix-ing Hendrix. I can play alright bass, but after 30-something years I ain't nowhere near playing like Flea. D:

Another one I heard was Clapton was afraid to go on after he heard Stevie Ray Vaughn tearing it up onstage before him.

And I'm pretty sure it was SRV who said it was Clapton who persuaded him to start singing on his songs.

Who had the better acting career?
                  Chevy Chase
                  Bill Murray
                  Gene Hackman

I don't understand why Gene Hackman would be lumped in with the other two.

Yeah, he's the only one of the three that's really an actor.

P.S. That might be a little unfair to Murray

No, not really. I've enjoyed a lot of Murray's movies and appearances over the years, since his first season of SNL. Bill plays Murray, just in different moods. Here, Bill plays the frantic Murry. And here, Bill plays the laid-back Murray. And then here, Bill plays the oddball Murray. There, Bill plays the dopey but lovable Murray. His brother Joel is actually a fine actor with some real range.

They are all 3 fine in their own way, but I just wondered why anybody would ever put the 3 together. Chase is a 100% comic actor as far as I know. Murray can play comedy and drama, but mostly comedy. Hackman is about 90% drama if you count the Superman movies as a comic role.

You want to see Bill step away from Bill playing Bill, watch this movie:

Murry is a great person and a prolific actor, and Hackman is a true artist. But lets be serious, Caddyshack, Fletch, Vacation and Christmas Vacation are four of the funniest movies ever made. As far as a career, I would go with Chevy. Did you know that Chevy won 2 Emmy awards?
