  • Good Alt Movies List

Thinking of making a list of good perspective altering movies for my kids to watch. Expand-your-mind type stuff.

    I'll go first:

    Vanilla Sky
    Mr. Nobody
    2001: A Space Odyssey
    A Clockwork Orange

    Now YOU do ME...

Sounds like you are OK messing up your kids, so get them all fucked up on shrooms and watch Willie Wonka. Every time you see a midget, do a shot of Absinthe.

Um, I don't know how old your kids are but my kids won't be watching "A Clockwork Orange" until they are not kids.

For a laugh plus messing with perceptions, "Men in Black."

I had to take a shot of deprograming your little Trumpsters.

The Hot Spot (1990) ... Nouveau noir in the great B movies tradition of RKO and Republic (alt movie? ... maybe not)

Roger Ebert gave this film three out of four stars and wrote, "Only movie lovers who have marinated their imaginations in the great B movies from RKO and Republic will recognize 'The Hot Spot' as a superior work in an old tradition." ... I couldn't agree more, when movies were about screen dialogue and outstanding performances by those expertly cast as their characters... This gem is a nouveau noir classic in my opinion, right up there with the cult classics like 'Thunder Road.'
