  • Family Probs...

Oldest graduated from college a couple of years ago. Took a while to find a job, lived with us for a year to get together money, now he's off on his own...
We realized he'd developed a drinking problem in college. He doesn't just drink a couple of beers, he'll drink a 12 pack, or a couple of bottles of wine, etc...
And he gets retarded when he's drunk.
I chewed him out once (we don't stand for a lot of bullshit), and told him not to drink in the house again, and I wouldn't tell his mom - she's the real nazi in the family.
He did. Last chance... he kept his nose clean for the rest of his time with us.

Fast forward to last week: He was arrested for drunk driving. Hit a parked car. Says he's learned his lesson, but I'll wait on that.
I'm so goddamned mad at that kid, after all the love and MONEY we poured into him. His mom is in Europe, we won't tell her until she returns.
Lawyer says he'll probably get a week in the slam.

    tl;dr - Son, I am disappoint.

edit: He has an uncle who is a true alcoholic. We're afraid he got the gene.

Why would he get a week in the slammer if it's his first offense? Forget about that, the fines and loss of license is much worse in the long run. The good news is that nobody got hurt so in a way luck was on his side.

I think a little stay in the pokey might be a valuable lesson for a privileged white boy.

12 beers a night, slightly above an amateur. Let him make mistakes, don't be an enabler.

Mistakes that will cost him his insurance, his career, or someone else's life? He blew double the legal limit.

He's gonna get ror'ed if he doesn't have a record. If you want get him a lawyer and have it knocked down to a DWAI. It won't be a criminal conviction and not fuck up his future. He will lose his license for a year.

He's drinking a 12 pack and a couple bottles of wine a day in your house and your wife doesn't know it? Can you post a pic of the wife please?

I'm still fascinated by the drugs they're giving you at assisted living facility that keep you up 24/7. It's fucking AMAZING!

Also, for at least 20 years, no company will hire him to drive while on company time. A whole mess of jobs are now out of his reach.

He can still be president or vice president of the USA though.
