  • "Is Dave there? No?, well maybe you can help me..."

Honestly, has that phone sales pitch ever actually worked? Three times just this morning, on my company cell phone, on three separate calls from three separate cities.

The third time, as soon as I heard "Is Dave there?..." I just told the asshole "did this scam really work at any time so far this morning?" He just hung up quick.

I'd rather be an Orlando street intersection beggar than ever be a telemarketer. Street begging is higher on the corporate totem pole than phone sales. Also has a greater moral compass.

We've been inundated with phone calls lately at the office from robo callers, Charter Cable and AT&T.
Back around 1994, Southwestern Bell pissed me off and I switched telephone companies. I'd say I average 1 call per day from AT&T asking me to switch back. There was a 6 month period where they didn't call but I get called 2-3x in a day often enough that it had to average out.

The Google maps robocall has been 2-3x per week for the last few years.

I feel sorry for the folks that had to give up their jobs selling pencils on the street, or selling their bodies to strangers, to become telemarketers. I can't think of anything lower.

Just this morning I got 4 calls on my cell, finally answered and it's a robot who says,"Thank you for being a Borneo taxpayer". That's as far as it got before I hung up. A majority of that shit is fake #s.

            It's called spoofing.

I feel sorry for people whose phone numbers get used by those scumbags. I called back on a company phone a couple of times, and the actual owners of the numbers were surprised someone was faking their phone #s to robocall.

I thought this thread was about JustDave not being around much lately.

About a year and a half ago, I got a call that was from my own phone number. I didn't answer it, but I probably should have. If it was me calling, it would have been the best conversation I've had in a while.

But you already talk to yourself, and get answers back, so that would have been an unnecessary phone charge!

                        Heard a joke last week:

Attorney dies and goes to heaven....

I get a robot that says " This is not a sales call, this is a public service announcement regarding your electricity provider." It always comes from a different number in Amityville, long Island.

There are different degrees of Lawyers. My ex's slimeball would eat garlic and onion laced pizza then have a meeting. There are shrewd lawyers and there are slime balls.
