  • interesting developments in the mass US attorneys firing

2 days before the mass firing Sessions had a conference call with the whole lot of them and gave no indication it was coming, kinda indicates he wasn't in the loop at least that far ahead. One day before the mass firings a presidential aide called Bharara and left a message to call the POTUS. Bharara consulted his ethical guidelines and instead called the AG to ask wassup. Then he gets fired, along with every other obama appointee. Days later the implausible explanation from the white house is 'just calling to extend to him good wishes'. Again. Since Trump already did that when he asked Bharara in person to stay on. This is a guy who made his name going after high level officials from both parties and insider trading on wall street.

    Hmmmmm.

Clinton fired all but one US Attorney. Bush and Obama fired many as well. A US Attorney's position is not a lifetime appt and they all know that going in

They do indeed, which changes absolutely nothing about the curious observations preceding the abrupt firings 50 days in that occurred here. You're going with coinkydink?

It doesnt matter. There's not conspiracy here, only a lack of communication and blurred org chart. He can fire them because he hates their choice in football teams.

Reno allowed all to remain until their replacements could be confirmed. Obama phased out his attorneys over time, as did H.W. Bush and Reagan. Trump has yet to even make a nomination for an attorney. Sure, he can do it. It doesnt mean its smart.

I don't think anyone has suggested a conspiracy yet, personally I'd go with presidential petulance as the likely cause. He wanted a backdoor chat with a US attorney, likely over investigations of a campaign donor since I don't see what else there would be to chat about, got turned down flat because the prosecutor takes ethics seriously, and attributed the refusal to play ball to a fictional deep state conspiracy he's been working on so fired everyone who has been leftover due to his own inability to transition effectively.

Sure it's speculative, your paralysed government's explanation is Trump called to express his good wishes to a guy he'd personally asked to stay on, then abruptly decided to fire everyone he'd kept on with no explanation, including the guy he'd just tried to express 'good wishes' to. Got any speculation that fits the facts better than mine? I'm open to it.

Why would I possibly be butthurt over the firing of US attorneys? Feel free to speculate.

Yeah, US Attorneys are routinely dismissed when new admins come in. I know its not as sexy or conspiratorial as yours, but its certainly more factual

                          Next?

And when did this admin come in? Did this admin specifically ask any attorneys to stay on? Why are you closing your eyes to what has actually happened here?

You can argue general incompetence, you can't argue business as usual because it isn't. There are sufficient grounds here for a Declaration of Shenanigans.

just doesn't fit the picture. If he did it on day one, sure. But he's been in office for 2 months and decided he didn't want 40 some US Attorneys prosecuting cases anymore without replacement? Can't assume incompetence. There has to be a reason.
