  • Tesla surges.

Two headlines this morning that surprised me.

    Tesla's market value overtakes Ford

Tesla passes GM to become most valuable U.S. car company

Speculation is that this is the market's reaction to the soon to be released lower priced Model 3.

At $35,000 that should be a good seller.

That's a nice way to say that they are overpriced. Sales of 25,000 vs. 6,700,000?

For a company who loses money each quarter despite govt subs, you'd think the stock would perform better. You'd be a fool to buy at this price. Short it or purchase some put options if you want to make money

They do build some absolutely incredible cars though. If they're actually able to push out a good Tesla for $35k we will be seeing a lot them hitting the roads over the next few years.

But remember, the subsidies and tax deferments Tesla receives are the pure and noble kind

If they can equal the cost, performance and convenience of gas or diesel I say go for it.

My friend has two Chevy Volts in his family and they are working out incredibly well. His Daughter can commute back and forth from work and uses 0 gasoline. They obviously won't work for everyone, but I'm impressed. If someone makes a small AWD pickup that can go 200 miles on one charge I'd be interested.

I absolutely agree provided that the cost isn't cheap as a result of tax payer subsidies.

Gas should be $9 a gallon, when you factor in all it costs us. The entire Pentagon bill to stabilize the ME, global warming and real estate loss from rising sea levels, etc. We should be grateful it isn't more.

Electric cars are the true money savers for Americans.

Tesla and battery companies are doing cartwheels over the latest oil spikes. If only they read the data on oil

If you can, short oil cuz its going down again

Did he notice a rise in his electric bill after getting them?
I have a 26 mile round trip commute for work, I'd have no problem making an all electric my work vehicle if I could find the right one.

The Leaf seems to be the go to electric down here.
My round trip is over 60 miles, so it's a non starter, but my car gets 40+mpg so it's not a big problem.
