  • U.S. sends dozens of troops to Somalia, 1st time in decades

MOGADISHU, Somalia - The U.S. military is sending dozens of regular troops to Somalia in the largest such deployment to the Horn of Africa country in roughly two decades.

The United States pulled out of Somalia after 1993, when two helicopters were shot down in the capital, Mogadishu, and bodies of Americans were dragged through the streets. Even now, Somalia's fragile central government is struggling to assert itself after the nationwide chaos that began with the fall of dictator Siad Barre in 1991.

The U.S. Africa Command on Friday said this deployment is for logistics training of Somalia's army, which is battling the extremist group al-Shabab that emerged from the country's years of warlord-led conflict. About 40 troops are taking part.

The U.S. in recent years has sent a small number of special operations forces and counter-terror advisers to Somalia, and President Donald Trump recently approved an expanded military role there. It includes carrying out more aggressive airstrikes against al-Shabab and considering parts of southern Somalia areas of active hostilities... More

This isn't even at 100 days yet. But I suppose with Clinton in charge we would have... gone more places? Dropped more bombs?

This whole "flex now, think later" thing has me a tad on edge.
I am not of the opinion everything will turn out dandy.

              We would have exactly this.

The media worked 24/7 for over a year to convince you Trump was somehow, different. That he was somehow against the hawkish MIC/PPIC status quo.

He's not. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. America got fooled again. 8(

But without all that useless SOS experience, right? At least he's not wearing a pants suit.

Blue ran the most hated person in the Country against Trump for a reason. As long as most of America thinks their team is right and the other team is wrong => we the people lose.

Your political masters are banking on all the Blue M&Ms supporting the expanding war zone; while wishing it was their girl was doing it, cause she "has more experience. After all, if you are going to do it- do it well. AmIright?"; while the Red M&Ms are expected to support "their candidate" regardless of action, thus supporting his expanding targets lists and defending it against any rational thinking minority... because, for some fucking strange reason, those who fall for political team sports stick with their guy and carry water for them no matter what.

Seen it from both sides relentlessly over the last 18 years, be pretty damn foolish to expect anything different from this group now.

Politics is not supposed to be a team sport.

Dozens. Ooh get ready for the sequel to blackhawk down. That's basically nothing. 40 troops sent to train Somalians. Watch the left blow it up into a big invasion.
