  • Whistleblower Journalists

No surprise really. Not a partisan issue. I think it's safe to say we all benefit from and want the truth in journalism.

A dead conspiracy theorist said something you wanted to hear and the RT wants to propagate, so you believe it despite the sources lacking credibility and the claims being very fringe. The fake news problem is mostly down to people like you lacking the ability to critically assess information. There's plenty of real news and plenty of fake news, you prefer the fake.

What dead conspiracy theorist are you referring to? What was said that i wanted to hear?

this article has 3 journalists pointing out how government and other organizations influence our news. They've experienced it. Why is that claim so fringe? We've all seen it happen in many different news outlets, right and left. If you think the lefty news sources you love are 100% true and all the right wing news sources are fake news, then you're the idiot who can't critically assess information.

You don't even bother to read the blog posts you present as 'news'? The 'top german journalist' referred to in the title was a conspiracy nut who died last january. He left mainstream journalism in 2003 and among other things claimed to have worked for the CIA as a NOC, as well as various german intelligence agencies some of whom he claimed dictated stories to him. Possibly through his tin foil hat. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't, either way you cannot extend the CIA paying some journalists to the CIA paying all journalists, unless you are a moron.

Atkinson's Ted talk would do some real good for people smart enough to know what they don't know.

If it takes a few strawmen to generate internet attention, so be it.

Her point about Wikipedia is hilarious. On another board - a guy literally quoted Wikipedia and when it didn't actually say what he declared it said, he just edited the Wikipedia page and declared "now it does". On Reddit - Today I Learned, that happens exceptionally routinely. People edit the Wikipedia page and THEN start posts declaring what it now says as fact and people fall for it. Hell, Big Bang Theory even made jokes about doing the same thing.

Who accused the cia of paying all journalists? I didnt see that in the article. I took the article to mean governments and government agencies are behind fake news stories. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the cia does buy off foreign journalists. Disseminating info and false info abroad is their stock and trade. I wouldn't be surprised if the dnc and rnc do the same thing domestically, along with many lobby groups. Why is that such a far fetched conspiracy theory?

You can call the guy a conspiracy nut and use that to just dismiss everything he says as "fringe" if you want to. I think the guy knows more about the journalism racket than most. I don't see his claims as far fetched. We know media outlets lie. We need to know why they're doing it and how to stop them from doing it.

Try reading the article, starting with the title.

Part of the job description of our intelligence agencies is to influence thoughts and opinions. It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that that might include right here at home.
