Just put the finishing touches on this jewelry cabinet today after work. A buddy of mine ordered one for Christmas to give to his girlfriend – who happens to be one of my cousins. This is the fourth jewelry cabinet of this type that I have made this year. Two are being given as Christmas gifts to two nieces and the other one was a gift from Ack to Mrs. Ack. The only difference with this one is that I used black velvet lining in the drawers and as a ring holding feature instead of the red that I had used in the previous three.
Here are a few other small gifts that I have been fooling around with in the shop to give to friends for Christmas. The four boxes in the forefront are walnut cigarette and a cigar holding boxes. I had a bunch of scrap laying around and wondered what I could do with it and came up with a few of these. The taller one in the back is the cigar holder. They have snap on and off lids.
The square box with the walnut inlay was for another buddy who doesn’t smoke and I made this one out of some red oak and walnut scrap pieces that were laying around the shop. If I had made the cigar and cigarette holding boxes for the other guys and didn’t make something for this guy, I would have heard holy hell, so I came up with this little box. I guess he could use it for spare change at the end of the day and place this box on his bedroom dresser. In the back are two of the many tissue box covers that I recently made and a number of them were purchased by fellow UJ members.
