Default Mounting a TV into a drywall with rebar? NSFW (bribery)

Hey guys, I'm considering mounting my 26" LCD (17.5 lbs) into my apartment bedroom wall. There isn't really enough room in the bedroom for a tv stand the way our room is set up. The problem is that in addition to it being a drywall, there are no wood studs, only rebar. I've read about springloaded screws that will expand after they are drilled in, but I wanted to hear your advice first. What's the best way for going about this?

    Tits for your time:

    Rebar studs?

I would advise against you doing anything yourself.

Haha we just started moving int his weekend and the apartmet guy told me there was rebar in the drywall instead of wood studs. I'm assuming rebar is a metal stud?

Rebar is the shit that reinforces concrete. I don't know of many uses for it in an apt unless your walls are cinder block.

Is this a project you moved into?

Well it obviously isn't rebar then. Let's go and assume its metal studs.

any wall mount you buy will come with butterfly bolts to mount into dry wall. I've mounted tv's up to 120 pounds using butterfly bolts. what are you going to do to hide the wires?

Haven't thought that far ahead yet. I was just seeing if mounting it was even an option to begin with.

Easy way is to cut a hole in the drywall behind the TV and drop the wires down. Cut another hole and plug the shit in. Just put something under the tv to hide the hole.

Toggle bolt would be a way better choice. I wouldn't trust a screw of any sort for this.

if it's a mount use the toggles, if it hits a metal stud? use a tek screw...
