Unhappy UJ Tech help! - My new rig wont work!! But now it ! (NSFW) Now with more nude ladies!

Hey WooHoo and the other UJ techies!

The parts for my new rig arrived this week, and today I started to build it.
    SPECS
    • AMD Phenom II x4 955BE 3.2G AM3
    • A64 Cooler: Artic Freezer
    • Asus M4A77T/USB 3 motherboard
    • 2x2Gb G-Skill F3 Ram
    • Corsair TX 850 PSU
    • Gigabyte HD5870 1GB
    • NZXT| GAMA-001BK RT Case.
Everything was plain sailing as I followed the excellent sticky on building your rig on the thread page. I stick in my power cord, switch it on and press the start up button on the front of the case... and nothing happened.
'Don't panic!' I thought, it's most likely a loose connection. So I checked everything over again, turned everything on and still nothing. The motherboard light came on, but nothing is happening! Any suggestions as to what is up? I made sure my wires from the m-b to the front of the rig were in their correct position for +/- so it's not that.
I'm getting really frustrated now. Please help!

Did the power supply fan turn on?

There's also sometimes a power switch/toggle in the back (Well, the light went on, so I guess it's not that).

did you make sure you connected the 4 hole connector that is usually located at the top left of the motherboard? Can you take a nice well lit picture of your rig if that isn't the problem. I forgot about the 4 hole connector myself because with a lot of the new PSU's it comes with 8 holes but can be pulled apart to make two 4 hole connectors.

also make sure you CPU fan is hooked up or else it also won't start.

You need another power supply to test the mobo with.

I just had that problem from my "Fucking Newegg" thread.

The power supply had some power flowing out of it as I got a green LED on the mobo, but the main 12V rails of the power supply were dead. I connected another power supply and it fired right up.

When I build a system, I connect the main items only...the mobo, the vid card, and hard drive.

Do not install anything else right out the gate.

You want me to build your knife or rifle or design your A/C system.
You do NOT want me to build your computer..

looks like an IDE optical drive. My asus mobo did not like IDE optical drives.
    Is it passing the POST?
Is there a mobo sound beep code?
Only have the 3d Card, memory connected. Not the HDDs or Optical drives
Unplug the optical drives (the cd-rom, dvd-ram, or blu-ray)
The last 3 builds i assembled didn't pass the POST(Power on self test) due to the optical drives.

Unplug anything not needed. Extra fans, cd rom, everything. Power and sata/ide cables.

Boot hard drive, mobo, and vid card only.

Double check power supply to mobo.

Make sure cpu cooler is seated and plugged into proper connector.try again

Swap the main power switch connector end over end. try again

Replace power cable to PSU with a known working cable like from a monitor.try again

If non of the above work you need a test power supply. It does not have to have all the extra conectors as long as it plugs into the mainboard and +4 atx at the top. try again.

If you use a known good power supply and still have an issue its the main power button (it happens) or mobo.

If at any point the systems boots you will need to add componants one at a time, booting after each new addition to find the fault.
